[Hanwha Ocean Press release/June 3, 2024] Hanwha Ocean is gearing up to unveil its innovative eco-friendly technologies at the 'Posidonia 2024' exhibition in Athens, Greece. The event, one of the world's leading maritime exhibitions, is scheduled to run from June 3rd to 7th and is expected to draw over 30,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.

As part of the Korean pavilion, Hanwha Ocean, a member of the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Plant Association, will showcase its impressive 93,000㎥ VLAC (Very Large Ammonia Carrier), highlighting the growing significance of ammonia as a carbon-free fuel source. Ammonia, known for its zero carbon dioxide emissions when burned, has seen a surge in demand for carriers since the latter half of last year.

The VLAC unveiled by Hanwha Ocean integrates state-of-the-art eco-friendly technologies, including the Shaft Generator Motor (SGM), designed to enhance fuel efficiency by generating power through a motor linked to the propulsion shaft. Additionally, the exhibition will feature Hanwha SmartShip Solution & Service (HS4), a smart ship platform developed by Hanwha Ocean.

In a bid to further bolster its eco-credentials, Hanwha Ocean aims to collaborate with major international shipping classification societies to secure certifications for its range of eco-friendly technologies.
