[KOGAS Press release/December 12, 2024] The Korea Gas Corporation(KOGAS) was honored as an exemplary company in the "Environmental Information Disclosure Sector" at the 2024 Korea Green Management and Finance Awards. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Environment, took place on December 10 at the Kensington Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. The award ceremony was organized by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI).

Introduced in 2021, this award recognizes companies leading in environmental, social, and governance(ESG) practices by openly disclosing environmental data and actively issuing green bonds. KOGAS was singled out as the only energy public institution to receive the award, praised for its exceptional efforts in carbon neutrality, ESG management, and supply chain transparency.

A key part of KOGAS's achievements is its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The corporation has implemented the "KOGAS Vision 2030" initiative, aiming for a 40% reduction in emissions by 2030 compared to 2018 levels. As part of this strategy, KOGAS has set up an integrated management system to monitor and reduce emissions, successfully cutting 53,000 tons of CO2 in the past year alone.

KOGAS has also strengthened its ESG governance, with an independent ESG committee led by three outside directors to guide policy decisions. Furthermore, the corporation holds the highest environmental and energy management certifications—ISO 14001 and ISO 50001—demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.

To further its transparency, KOGAS publishes annual sustainability and ESG reports, providing the public with detailed insights into its eco-friendly practices and progress in environmental management.
