[Yonhap/December 26, 2024] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on December 26 that it has signed a construction agreement worth KRW 742 billion with ship owners in Asia for the delivery of three very large ethanol carriers (VLECs). The vessels are slated for delivery by December 2027.
This deal brings Samsung Heavy Industries' total orders for 2024 to approximately $7.3 billion (KRW 10.6 trillion), comprising 36 ships, and accounting for 75% of its annual target of $9.7 billion.
The order portfolio includes 22 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, two very large ammonia carriers (VLACs), one shuttle tanker, four medium-sized tankers, four container ships, and the three ethanol carriers.
