[Yonhap/April 1, 2025] South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean has secured a newbuilding contract to construct two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) for a shipping company in Oceania.

The contract, valued at KRW 378.4 billion ($257 million), was announced on April 1. The vessels, each with a capacity of 320,000 deadweight tons (dwt), are scheduled for delivery by May 31, 2027.

While Hanwha Ocean did not disclose the shipping company, industry sources have identified Greek shipowner Evangelos Marinakis’ Capital Group as the likely customer.
