[Yonhap/September 8, 2025] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) announced today that its subsidiary, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, has signed a contract with an Asia-based shipping company for the construction of two container carriers.

 

The total contract value amounts to KRW 409.5 billion. The vessels will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' shipyard and are scheduled for sequential delivery by the first half of 2028.

 

This latest contract follows an order secured on September 4 by HD Hyundai Samho, another HD KSOE subsidiary, for two crude oil carriers worth KRW 242.2 billion from a shipowner based in Africa. In July, both HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and HD Hyundai Samho each signed contracts to build two container ships, further strengthening the Group’s global order book.

 

With the addition of this new order, HD KSOE has secured a total of 86 vessels to date in 2025, HD KSOE’s total vessel orders include five liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, six LNG bunkering vessels, eight liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, two ethane carriers, fifty-two container ships, twelve tankers, and one petrochemical product carrier.
