Mr. Oh Kwon-taek, the head of the Hydrogen & New Business Unit at Korea Gas Corporation, has been appointed as the seventh Chairman of the Korea LNG Bunkering Industry Association. His appointment follows the resolution passed by the association's board of directors and general meeting. Chairman Oh's term will commence in August 2024 and will extend for two years.

Chairman Oh, who earned a degree in chemical engineering, joined Korea Gas Corporation in 1995. With over 30 years of experience in both domestic and international sectors and policy departments, he has also pursued advanced studies, obtaining a Master’s degree in Geophysics from the University of Texas. This background has endowed him with a robust blend of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the gas industry. His recent role as the head of the New Growth Business Department, which encompasses new ventures such as LNG bunkering, has further deepened his understanding of the ship fuel supply sector.

In his statement, Chairman Oh Kwon-taek remarked, “This year, LNG’s prominence as an eco-friendly ship fuel is increasing, with LNG-powered vessels gaining renewed attention over methanol. I am committed to collaborating with member companies to invigorate the associated bunkering industry.”
