[KOGAS Press release/ April 8, 2024] The Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has announced its intention to recruit users for manufacturing facilities over a two-week period starting from April 8 to 19. This recruitment drive targets both existing direct natural gas importers and potential importers.
This marks the second recruitment initiative by KOGAS since July last year and is specifically aimed at direct importers scheduled to commence supply before December 2027.
Moreover, KOGAS plans to conduct assessments to identify new demand trends and ascertain the necessary storage capacity for facility usage post-2028. Additionally, the corporation intends to extend support to direct importers to optimize the utilization of their manufacturing facilities.
The primary objective behind this recruitment campaign is to enhance the efficiency of the national natural gas infrastructure while simultaneously reducing supply costs. This will be achieved through the expansion of joint facility usage, leveraging the world's largest and highest LNG storage facilities owned by KOGAS. This strategic move aims to curtail overlapping investments by the private sector.
An official from KOGAS emphasized, "Moving forward, KOGAS remains committed to bolstering services to the private sector through various initiatives, including the formulation of a rational rate system that encourages the maximal joint usage of facilities."
