[KOGAS press release/ July 11, 2023] Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has confirmed its participation in the prestigious "LNG 2023", the 20th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas.

Held in Vancouver, Canada, from the 10th to the 13th, the conference brings together over 10,000 attendees from 80 countries. Co-hosted by the International Gas Union, the International Institute of Refrigeration, and the Gas Technology Institute, this triennial event covers a wide range of topics, including geopolitical risks impacting the LNG market, recent market changes, and carbon emission reduction technologies.

As a major player in the global energy market, KOGAS aims to leverage its participation at LNG 2023 to gain valuable market insights and secure stable supplies amidst the unpredictable energy supply and demand landscape. CEO & President of KOGAS, Choi Yeon-hye will hold crucial meetings with influential figures such as Qatar's Energy Minister and the Chairman of Malaysia's PETRONAS Group. These meetings will focus on forging cooperative measures to stabilize domestic natural gas supply and enhance energy security.

Moreover, KOGAS intends to showcase the capabilities and accomplishments of "Global KOGAS" at the exhibition. By highlighting its LNG business and significant international ventures, the corporation aims to solidify its position as the world's largest LNG buyer and gain an advantageous foothold for future natural gas introductions. An official from KOGAS expressed their anticipation for LNG 2023, describing it as an opportunity to showcase Korea's gas industry potential to global energy companies. They also pledged active engagement in activities promoting diversified LNG introduction.

Simultaneously, President Choi Yeon-hye will visit the LNG Canada project construction site, a venture spearheaded by KOGAS. This visit will enable an assessment of project performance and provide an opportunity to review and refine the promotion plans for its successful completion in a safe environment. KOGAS has been participating in the LNG Canada project since the final investment decision (FID) in 2018. As of the end of May, the progress rates for the project's construction stood at 83% for the liquefaction plant and 89% for the transfer pipelines of raw material gas. KOGAS aims to complete the project smoothly without any delays, with the goal of achieving its completion in early 2025.
