[LNG Prime/July 28, 2023] Maran Tankers Management, the oil tanker unit of Greece’s Angelicoussis Group, has taken delivery of its fourth LNG dual-fuel very large crude carrier (VLCC).

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries handed over the 320,500-dwt, Maran Dione, on July 27, according to a social media post by Angelicoussis.

Maran Tankers ordered in total four LNG dual-fuel VLCCs at the Korean shipbuilder back in February 2021, so Maran Dione is the last vessel in this batch.

In January, Maran Tankers took delivery of its first LNG-powered VLCC, Antonis I. Angelicoussis, and the second vessel, Maria A. Angelicoussis, in February.

The third vessel, Maran Danae, joined the fleet in April.

Thanks to her capability to consume LNG, efficient machinery, hull and propeller design, advanced anti-fouling technology and energy-saving devices, LR-classed Maran Dione, like her sister ships can emit up to 50 percent less carbon dioxide than an equivalent 2008-built VLCC, Angelicoussis claims.

All of these VLCCs feature the latest-generation dual-fuel MAN ES 7G80 ME-GI Tier III main engine.

According to its website, Maran Tankers currently operates 54 vessels.
