[Yonhap/November 10, 2025] Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said it has signed an agreement with U.S.-based venture Amogy Inc. to develop and produce ammonia-powered energy solutions.

Under the partnership, Samsung Heavy will have exclusive domestic production rights for Amogy products for at least three years, with the two companies joining forces to develop systems for both marine and on-land applications.

Amogy's energy solution converts hydrogen derived from ammonia into electricity, serving as a sustainable power source for eco-friendly marine engines.

Samsung Heavy plans to expand its ammonia testing facility at its main shipyard in Geoje, 390 kilometers southeast of Seoul, and prepare for the manufacturing of Amogy's products starting in 2026.

The latest agreement follows a partnership signed in February by the two companies to jointly develop an ammonia power generation system for next-generation vessels.
