[KOGAS Press release/October 15, 2025] Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) and Korea Western Power (KOEPO) have signed a contract for the purchase of gas supply facilities at the Gumi natural gas power plant. The agreement, finalized on October 15, follows up on the Indivisible Pricing Scheme sales contract signed between the two entities in July.
The partnership initially planned separate construction of natural gas pipelines in Chilgok, Gyeongsangbuk-do. However, the companies reached a joint agreement to build overlapping sections of the pipeline, streamlining the project and reducing the overall piping length. This collaborative approach has allowed both organizations to optimize facility sizes and cut costs.
This agreement is seen as an exemplary step toward reducing energy costs. By dividing responsibilities between public institutions in the fields of natural gas supply and energy infrastructure construction, the deal is expected to lead to substantial savings in construction and operational maintenance expenses, ultimately easing gas and electricity rates for consumers.
