[KOGAS press release/September 13, 2024] On September 12th, the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) convened the 3rd KOGAS Forum at the Seoul President Hotel, focusing on the theme “Energy Security and Natural Gas Supply Stability.”
The forum brought together over 100 experts from various sectors, including major global corporations, city gas firms, power generation companies, and academic institutions, to address pressing issues in both domestic and international natural gas industries.
Participants emphasized the critical need to enhance the stability of natural gas supplies and ensure energy security amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and increasing demands for carbon neutrality.
There was a broad consensus on the need to normalize the system of linking raw material costs with tariffs and adjust these tariffs to better reflect financial realities.
Choi Yeon-hye, President of KOGAS, underscored the industry’s commitment to maintaining a stable natural gas supply despite external challenges. “It is our duty to ensure a reliable supply of natural gas regardless of any crisis or difficulty. We will work to improve the gas industry system in Korea by incorporating the valuable insights shared by experts at today’s forum,” Choi stated.
