[KOGAS Press release/ April 19, 2024] KOGAS(the Korea Gas Corporation) and Mitsubishi Corp. held their 20th Regular Meeting at the KOGAS headquarters in Daegu, South Korea, on April 18th, marking a significant milestone in their longstanding partnership. The meeting, which brought together over 40 officials from both companies, resumed after a five-year hiatus prompted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Since the signing of the 'Strategic MOU for Sharing LNG Business Information' in 2006, KOGAS and Mitsubishi have maintained a steady dialogue through a series of 19 meetings, demonstrating their commitment to collaboration in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.
During the 20th meeting, the companies engaged in discussions covering a range of topics, including the evolving landscape of the gas industry in the era of energy transition, the progress of overseas LNG investment projects, and advancements in low-carbon LNG and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) initiatives.
Recognizing the growing significance of natural gas in the global energy transition, both companies underscored the importance of continued investment in the sector. Moreover, they explored avenues to enhance cooperation in low-carbon LNG and CCS projects, aligning with international efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality.
An official from KOGAS reiterated the company's commitment to fostering sustainable cooperation with Mitsubishi, emphasizing the significance of regular gatherings and exchange meetings in strengthening their partnership. "Building upon the discussions held during this meeting, we are poised to explore diverse cooperation opportunities in the realm of low-carbon LNG," the officical added.
