[Korea Shipping Gazette/August 29, 2024] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering(KSOE) has unveiled a high-pressure pump for LNG Fuel Gas Supply Systems(FGSS). This development marks a significant departure from the industry's previous reliance on imported pumps from the United States and Europe.
The Liberian Registry, the world's largest ship registry, in conjunction with the American Bureau of Shipping(ABS), has officially certified KSOE's high-pressure pump design. KSOE has acquired PDA(product design assistance) from ABS and DVA(design verification assistance) from Liberian Regisry.
This pump has undergone rigorous design verification, engine interworking tests, and durability assessments over the past two and a half years, meeting stringent safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
Previously, the LNG FGSS industry faced frequent supply disruptions and delays in technical service due to dependency on external suppliers. KSOE's new pump is poised to address these issues by providing a reliable and stable supply alternative.
A KSOE representative emphasized the significance of this development, stating, "The reliance on overseas high-pressure pumps has often led to delays and difficulties in problem resolution. By integrating our independently developed pump into ships, we anticipate enhanced customer satisfaction and a more stable supply chain."
