“After delivery on October 28, the vessel will undergo gassing-up / cool-down operation in Japan and then proceed to its first loading port in the US,” MOL said in a statement on Friday.
Marvel Swallow will sail under a time charter contract with Mitsui & Co. MOL and Mitsui & Co signed a charter contract for the Marvel Swallow, the fourth in a series of vessels, in 2022. Contracts were signed for the three previous newbuilding vessels in 2014 and 2015.
The new vessel is 294.9 meters long and 46.4 meters wide. It is equipped with the latest MAN ME-GA engines, which offer “improved fuel efficiency and are more environmentally friendly than those installed on current LNG carriers,” MOL said.
MOL’s huge fleet of LNG carriers expanded to 99 vessels as of the end of June this year.
In addition, MOL’s fleet also included seven FSUs/FSRUs. Singapore LNG, the state-owned operator of the country’s first LNG import terminal on Jurong Island, recently confirmed it has signed a deal with MOL to charter one FSRU for Singapore’s second LNG terminal.
