[Yonhap/January 20, 2024] Samsung Heavy Industries has secured its first order of 2025, signing a 379.6 billion won ($261.5 million) contract to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for a shipowner in the Oceania region.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery by June 2027.

With this order, Samsung Heavy's LNG carrier order backlog now totals 84 vessels, amounting to $19.1 billion.

A representative from the company stated that they plan to continue securing orders for eco-friendly vessels, including LNG carriers and ammonia carriers, along with high-value offshore projects in the coming year.
