KOGAS Press release/ May 23, 2025] Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has reopened its newly renovated disaster safety experience facility at the Pyeongtaek LNG base, enhancing its role as the nation’s only gas fire training site.
The upgraded indoor training zone, part of the Pyeongtaek Gas Fire Training Center, was officially unveiled during an opening ceremony held on May 21. It now offers an array of hands-on simulations designed to boost disaster response capabilities among both employees and the general public.
The facility features high-intensity training modules, including simulated earthquakes, fire evacuations, CPR(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED(Automated External Defibrillator) instruction, and virtual reality (VR) experiences of LNG leaks and fires. It also includes challenging escape drills set in realistic disaster scenarios.
With the renovation complete, KOGAS will begin mandatory safety training for all employees by the end of the month. Public safety programs—paused during the COVID-19 pandemic—will also resume through a reservation system available on the KOGAS website.
The upgraded facility highlights KOGAS’s commitment to advancing safety education through immersive, state-of-the-art training.
